⚠ Important — Please Read Before Using MacroMint

MacroMint is a nutritional tracking tool, not a medical device. The information provided by this App is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute medical, dietary, or clinical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet or health regimen.

1. Not Medical Advice

MacroMint and all content within the App — including macro targets, calorie estimates, body composition calculations, food logs, and AI-generated recipes — are provided for informational and general wellness purposes only. Nothing in the App constitutes:

  • Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
  • Dietary advice from a registered dietitian or nutritionist.
  • Clinical recommendations or a treatment plan.
  • A substitute for professional medical or nutritional consultation.

If you have or suspect a medical condition — including but not limited to eating disorders, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, metabolic conditions, pregnancy, or any condition requiring a medically supervised diet — consult a licensed physician or registered dietitian before using the App's macro targets or dietary recommendations.

2. Body Composition Estimates

MacroMint calculates body fat percentage and lean body mass (LBM) using the Deurenberg formula and/or the US Navy circumference method. These are population-level statistical models and have well-documented accuracy limitations:

  • The Deurenberg formula has an estimated standard error of approximately ±3–4% body fat.
  • The US Navy method has an estimated standard error of approximately ±3–4% body fat.
  • Both methods may be less accurate for athletes, older adults, pregnant women, and certain ethnic groups.
  • Results may differ significantly from DEXA scans, hydrostatic weighing, or other clinical measurement methods.

Body composition estimates provided by the App are starting points for goal-setting — they are not clinical measurements. Do not use these estimates as a substitute for professional body composition assessment if you have a medical or athletic performance need.

3. Macro & Calorie Targets

MacroMint calculates Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) and macro targets (protein, carbohydrates, fat) using evidence-based formulas adjusted for your stated goal (fat loss or muscle gain). These targets are estimates. Individual caloric and nutritional needs vary based on metabolic rate, health status, medications, hormonal factors, and other variables not captured by the App.

Significant caloric restriction or surplus without professional supervision can have serious health consequences. We recommend:

  • Consulting a registered dietitian or physician before following any calorie deficit below 1,200 kcal/day (women) or 1,500 kcal/day (men).
  • Not using the App to replace medically prescribed diets.
  • Monitoring your wellbeing and adjusting targets in consultation with a health professional.

4. AI-Generated Content

The App uses Google Gemini AI to estimate food nutrition from photos and to generate recipes. AI-generated estimates and recipes:

  • Are approximate and may not reflect actual nutritional content of specific brands, preparation methods, or portion sizes.
  • Do not account for your individual food allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions unless you specify them explicitly.
  • Should be verified against product labels and/or a registered dietitian for medically important dietary decisions.
  • Are not suitable as the sole basis for managing medical conditions requiring dietary precision (e.g., diabetes, PKU, renal disease).

5. Eating Disorders & Vulnerable Users

Calorie and macro tracking tools can be triggering for individuals with or at risk of disordered eating behaviours, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, orthorexia, or binge eating disorder. If you have a history of disordered eating, or if using the App causes distress, anxiety, or obsessive thoughts about food, please stop using the App and seek guidance from a qualified mental health professional or registered dietitian.

6. No Emergency Services

MacroMint is not designed to address medical emergencies. If you or someone else is experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services (911 in the US, 112 in the EU, 999 in the UK) immediately.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MacroMint and its operators accept no liability for any injury, illness, or adverse outcome arising from reliance on information, estimates, or recommendations provided by the App. Use of the App is at your own risk.
